Former FBI Director James Comey could testify before Congress as early as next week.

Comey, who was surprisingly fired by President Donald Trump earlier this month, is expected to testify about instances where Trump allegedly asked him to drop parts of the FBI’s investigation into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.

CNN reports that no official date has been set for Comey to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee; however, he could “as early as next week” after speaking with newly appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

While Comey is not likely to be able to discuss details of the FBI’s probe into Russian interference with the election and any links between Trump’s campaign, Comey will be able to discuss interactions with Trump that led up to his firing, according to CNN.

Comey’s testimony will be the latest in what has become a sprawling number of events that make up the investigation into possible Russian interference. The frenzy of the investigation was ramped up in light of Comey’s firing.

Since Comey’s dismissal on May 9, a number of reports about Trump’s treatment of Comey, including the president asking him to halt a probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and Trump allegedly asking Comey for his “loyalty.”

It’s unclear how many details of the alleged incidents Comey will be able to discuss, but his testimony promises to be a must-watch moment in the ongoing American political drama.
