Nearly 800,000 accounts exposed in breach of major porn site

Brazzers has been exposed—and not in the way you’re used to.

The accounts of nearly 800,000 visitors of the popular porn site have been compromised in a data breach. The dataset provided by monitoring site Vigilante.pw to Motherboard, which broke the story, was verified in part by Troy Hunt of  Have I Been Pwned?, as well as a number of users.

The data—email addresses, usernames, and passwords—actually originated from Brazzersforum, a completely separate forum where users share thoughts and fantasies about particular stars or scenes.

According to Matt Stevens, the public relations manager from Brazzers, the incident dates back to 2012 and a vulnerability in vBulletin, the third-party software the company used for the forum. Since user accounts were shared between the two platforms, that resulted in some Brazzers visitors being exposed, even if they never frequented the forum.

“Brazzers takes the privacy and safety of its users very seriously,” Stevens told Motherboard. “We banned all non-active accounts in that list in case those usernames and passwords are re-used in the future.”

The Brazzersforum is currently “under construction.”
