Happy Wi-Fi day — It will be your last

The Wi-Fi specification — a very nerdy and technical document which describes how computers and routers talk to each other wirelessly — has an unsurprisingly nerdy name given by the IEEE, the exceedingly nerdy group of folks who think up such things: 802.11. On this date, 8/02/11, we celebrate Wi-Fi day! Whether you call it Wi-Fi, 802.11, or wireless Internet, you can agree it’s changed life in the coffee shop forever.
