What will you do when you have kids? If you’ve been on Twitter today, then you may have already weighed in on this matter.

As the topic #whenihavekids became a top trend Thursday, the discussion ranged from heartfelt to snarky.

#WhenIHaveKids I just hope that they will be smart and healthy and grow up to be great individuals some day,” tweeted @_DHOBBS.

@OhThatsAlexusss added, “#Whenihavekids I’m going to do everything my parents didn’t. I’m going to be a way better parent.”

Meanwhile @JuJuuBeans swore “to never put them on leashes. There is something just so wrong about that (but it’s fun to watch).”

The hashtag #whenihavekids has been around for about a week. There were three mentions on July 8, according to social search engine Topsy. But the term started shooting up yesterday. Like many things on Twitter, it’s not completely clear why. But what is clear is that the topic near and dear to a lot of folks’ Twitter feeds.

In the past 24 hours, it was used some 46,000 times.

@iFollowYoDaddy said her kids are “gonna have everything i didn’t.”

KiannaNana proved she’ll be a bit of a disciplinarian: “#WhenIHaveKids they better not be cussing. Chile straight in their mouths.”

But maybe @LoveDoesMatter summed it up best. “#whenihavekids i’ll raise them to be a better person than I am. Because they should know from young, that life is beautiful.”

That one tweet got 28 retweets and counting.
