Hakan Aysal, 40, is accused of pushing Semra Aysal—his 32-year-old, 7-month pregnant wife—to her death in 2018. The couple was on vacation in Butterfly Valley in Mugla, Turkey, when they visited the cliff to take selfies.

According to the Sun, prosecutors said they believe the couple was on top of the cliff for three hours so that Hakan could ensure they were alone before allegedly killing her. Prosecutors also argue that Hakan killed Semra for her life insurance, and he remains in custody for premeditated murder. Hakan maintains that Semra’s death was an accident.

A tourist’s video, which was recently unearthed and published by the Sun, shows what happened in the moments leading up to Semra’s alleged murder. In the video, Hakan holds Semra’s hand as he leads her down the cliff, toward the edge.

The tourist said Hakan was acting strangely prior to Semra’s death and predicted that one of them was going to fall off the cliff, according to the Sun.

The footage is now being used in the police investigation into Semra’s death.
