Smiley the eyeless therapy dog will melt your frozen heart

The Canadian therapy dog is sure to put a smile on your face.

Smiley was born without eyes, but that hasn’t stopped him from being the happiest, sweetest dog on the planet.

The dog was rescued by owner Joanne George from a puppy mill when he was one or two years old. His early years were tumultuous. “He was very scared, [the dogs] had never been out of that barn,” George told ABC News.

But now not only is Smiley thriving, he’s even employed! The golden retriever works as a therapy dog at a nursing home in Stouffville, Canada. And he’s living up to his name by being a happy presence and also bringing smiles to the faces of the lucky people around him.

“There was this man Teddy, [he had] no speech, no communication at all,” George told ABC News of one of Smiley’s encounters.. “[The staff] had never seen Teddy smile before. [Teddy] smiled when Smiley got into his vision.” George has been lucky enough to have Smiley for 10 years. 

Cute animals have no problem getting attention on the internet, but Smiley in particular has warmed the cockles of our hearts. Also, he wears a bandana like a total boss.
