There’s a new brew out there that redefines the term “beer nuts.”

Wynkoop Brewing Company, Denver’s oldest brewpub, announced that today at 5pm local time it will be tapping its first keg of Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout—a beer that contains bull testicles. Seriously.

The idea to use such a unique ingredient stemmed from an April Fool’s video and press release the company put out earlier this year. Ironically, many beer writers and aficionados were titillated by such a novel beer concept and asked Wynkoop to actually make it.

The brewpub happily obliged.

“We’ve been making ballsy beer for the past few years,” stated Andy Brown, Wynkoop’s head brewer in the company’s statement, “and this is great proof of that.”

For many Coloradans, fried bull testicles— known as “Rocky Mountain Oysters”— are already a local delicacy.

As per the taste, the beer has a thick, sticky consistency with an assortment of flavors like “chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and espresso, along with a palpable level of alcohol and a savory umami-like note.” In other words, it’s somewhat salty.

For those with enough testicular fortitude to try the beer, Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is only available at the brewpub and at their table at the Great American Beer Festival, which is happening this weekend in Denver.
