A Florida woman who was allegedly berating workers at a Pier 1 Imports purposefully went over to a customer filming the interaction and coughed on her.
Heather Sprague, the woman who was coughed on, told First Coast News she was "a little bit stunned" that someone invaded her personal space and is concerned for her health.
Sprague is a brain tumor patient and has a compromised immune system, which puts her at greater risk of having life-threatening complications if she contracts the coronavirus.
The mother of 10's outing to the home goods retailer was a rare one, First Coast News reports. Sprague masked up and went into the Pier 1 to get some relief from the summer sun while she waited out her appointment time, News4Jax reports.
She started filming when she saw another customer being rude to store staff over an item she wanted to return but hadn't brought with her to the store. The woman's two young kids roamed the store while this went on, Prague told News4Jax.
“Do you really need this? What do you want to do—post it for you? How 'bout that?” the woman says while putting up two middle fingers for the camera.
“I think I’ll get really close to you and cough on you then, how’s that?" she says while approaching Sprague.
The woman coughs on her and calls Sprague an "asshole" as she walks away with her arms crossed.
"No. No. Uh-uh. No way," someone says in the background.
The woman immediately picks up her purse from the floor and walks out of the store. As she leaves, she calls Sprague a "dumbass" and says, "You're lucky I don't kick you."
“I did not speak, react, or engage. Simply stood to document the behavior. When bullies are faced with accountability they must acknowledge the unacceptability of their actions. Within 30 seconds of filming her tirade was done and she left the poor staff in peace," Sprague, who didn't say anything throughout the video, wrote in a Facebook post, per News4Jax.
Sprague intends to get tested for the coronavirus after the ordeal.
