Every day, the Daily Dot finds something that people on Facebook are sharing and, in turn, shares it with you—with a little explanation. Here’s today’s share.

A mother’s pure joy has propelled a simple photograph of a returning soldier to Facebook fame.

“My son is back safely from a 1 year tour in Afghanistan!!” Kathy Ashby-Bullis wrote under the picture of Brandon Bullis, standing in his Army uniform in a field with civilians.

Unlike many shares highlighted in our daily feature, this doesn’t come from a celebrity or Facebook group. It barely has more than 100 shares.

But it still spreading rapidly since Ashby-Bullis first posted Wednesday morning, and it already has accrued over 12,000 likes. A mother’s joy in seeing her returning son, a soldier, was all this photograph needed to go big on Facebook.

Notably, the comments indicate that most people have never met Bullis. They simply saw it on their Facebook feed and wanted to reach out to the young soldier.

“We welcome you home… We do not know you…never the less we want to say THANK YOU for the service you have performed,” wrote Robert Allwine.

“I don’t know you personally, but Thank You for your service,” wrote Jody Beauchamp.
