An attempted selfie turned tragic when a young woman fell out of a window, her friends say.

The Daily Mail reported Tuesday that the woman, Toni Kelly, died in London “after suffering a serious brain injury.”

Though the circumstances of her death have not been confirmed by her family or U.K. officials, Kelly’s friends said she fell out of a second-story window while trying to take a selfie.

Following Kelly’s death, a donation page was set up “to get Toni home” and help the family with other expenses. The page raised more than $38,000 by Wednesday.

Her sister, Stacey Kelly, on Facebook, thanked Kelly’s friends who had set up the donation page.

“I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless support so far,” Kelly wrote. “We are completely lost for words & can’t wait to be home.”

Toni Kelly’s elementary school friend, Paige Hourigan, told the Daily Mail she was “the girl who was always smiling” and “the most fun” to be around.

“I remember just laughing and giggling with her all the time about nothing,” Hourigan said. “She was a beautiful girl that will definitely always be remembered—especially for that smile.”
