VR furry porn game DragonlayerVR promises immersive dragon sex

Up for some virtual reality dragon yiff? A new VR furry porn game, DragonlayerVR, will let furry fans have sex with all sorts of dragons, including “scaly ones, fluffy ones, feathery ones,” and “spicy lizards of all kinds.”

Furry game developer sushifur and furry artist NicOpossum are teaming up to create DragonlayerVR, which offers an open-ended, sandbox environment for erotic and sexual interactions with anthropormorphic dragons.

The game features direct, first-person interaction between players and dragons. As development continues, DragonlayerVR will feature various sexual options between players and their dragon of choice, from masturbation to fisting, as well as procedural animation for character-player interactions.

Other upcoming features include a “lust system,” fluid-simulated ejaculate, and player hand gestures to interact with characters. Long-term possibilities range from multiple characters on-screen to a “leash system” so players can lead characters around the level (inviting plenty of kinky pet play scenarios). The end goal, sushifur and NicOpossum write on the game’s Patreon, is to create an 18+ virtual reality experience that offers “bright, colorful, animated, and accessible” gameplay.

“Our philosophy is that interactivity should take top priority. We think the most immersive VR experiences are the ones that offer a lot of small player discoveries, and have room for exploration,” DragonlayerVR’s Patreon notes. “Rather than being bogged down by menus, sliders and checkboxes, why not have ray guns, potions, and magic toys you can find in the levels themselves?”

DragonlayerVR has obvious similarities to another popular furry VR porn game, Heat. Both games offer players first-person, open-ended sandbox scenarios for sex with anthropormorphic characters. Both games also offer dragon sex, with Heat planning additional characters later on.

Heat and DragonlayerVR are also incredibly popular with furries; Heat, in particular, earns over $14,000 per month on Patreon. DragonlayerVR has a smaller base in comparison, but the adult furry game still has 180 patrons pledging more than $1,300 per month on Patreon, along with 11,100 followers on Twitter.

As one r/dragon_irl meme jokes: “If I had a nickel for every time I found a dragon-themed VR sex game, I’d have two nickles. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.”

DragonlayerVR began after developer sushifur started learning 3D modeling during the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the U.K., they told the Daily Dot. After creating their fursona for VRChat, they decided to try VR game development.

“With VR headsets being very much in demand and selling out everywhere, I put two and two together. If there is ever a time to develop for virtual reality platforms, it’s now. And with a background in games development, it only made sense,” sushifursaid said. “For years now I’ve run a fandom Twitter account dedicated to strange but light-hearted memes about dragons, and managed to build up a decent following. So it made sense to cater to that same audience. Only this time I’d be making something new and exciting that I hadn’t tried my hands at before: furry porn.”

Sushifur calls VR porn game development “exciting” but “challenging,” as the field is still very new. On the one hand, this gives developers room for a lot of creativity; on the other, developers are creating new standards and practices as they go.

“Occasionally I will run into a roadblock imposed by a limitation in the technology, or not knowing how to implement a specific feature. And the only way to overcome it is to be persistent, keep working, and to keep trying new things,” they said. “Experimentation has been at the forefront for me when making DragonlayerVR—using existing technology, but in new ways I had never before considered when making a more traditional game.”

As for DragonlayerVR’s similarities with Heat, sushifur said they learned about the latter’s existence via Twitter replies after they began posting DragonlayerVR game development updates online. Admittedly, they haven’t played the game yet, although they understand why players may compare the two titles.

“I think when your game is early on in development like Dragonlayer is it’s far too easy to look to other projects that are further along, draw a comparison, and lose motivation or feel pressured to compete,” they told the Daily Dot. “When the truth is the furry game scene is still very small, and there is still plenty of space for new creators to succeed and to get noticed. So for now I’m trying not to look too much at other projects, and instead focus on making the game I want, carving out my own path.”

At the moment, DragonlayerVR doesn’t have a playable build available, but interested furries can support DragonlayerVR’s early development by pledging to the game’s Patreon page. Patrons who pledge $13 per month for the “dragon kisser” tier will receive early access to builds as they become available, and “dragon layer” supporters can even implement their original character’s dick into the game as a custom-made dildo (in exchange for $97 per month).

A release date has not yet been set, but DragonlayerVR will be available for PC via SteamVR, and public builds will be initially published on Patreon, the game’s FAQ notes. Any PC headset that can run SteamVR will be able to play DragonlayerVR.
