According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 1.5 million people over the age of 12 used cocaine in 2014, or about 0.6 percent of the population. And while the heroin and opioid use is on the rise, usage rates for cocaine have been declining. This is in part because cocaine isn’t your most cost-effective high. According to the most recent National Drug Survey, the average price for a gram of cocaine is $78 per gram. So how much does cocaine cost in each country?

Using the U.N. World Drug Report and user-submitted data, the black-market site Havocscope compiled a list of how much cocaine costs around the world. Kuwait tops the price charts, at $330 a gram, while Colombia has the lowest prices at $3.50 per gram.

As you can see, there is a vast range in what you’ll pay for the white stuff. The farther you are from its sources—Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia account for all the harvest coca plants in the world—the more expensive it gets. For example, in Australia, it’s outrageously pricey at $300 a gram, but in Bolivia or Colombia, you can get pretty damn high for less than a Big Mac. In the U.S., prices range from $8 to $300, and that’s based on location (you can get it cheaper in Los Angeles, since it’s closer to the Mexican border than in the boonies) and cut (since cocaine is often diluted for greater profit).
