These cancer patients got a makeover—with a hilarious twist

French cancer charity the Mimi Foundation invited 20 cancer patients for a makeover. They had no idea what they were in for.

French cancer charity the Mimi Foundation invited 20 cancer patients to a photo shoot in which they would receive makeovers, but there was an unexpected and inspiring twist.

Some of the patients have been battling cancer for years and don’t have a cure in sight. With just a diagnosis, many instantly lose their sense of freedom and confidence.

“You know what I miss the most? Being carefree,” one cancer patient noted during project, dubbed “If Only For a Second.”

Instead of glamouring them up, the participants were given over-the-top looks, complete with mullets, beehives, and heavy makeup. It’s shocking and completely, unexpected, and totally worth it for the big reveal, which was captured by a photographer behind a one-way mirror.

Their faces, in that single moment, says it all.
