Rapper Boosie Badazz is under fire for his transphobic comments about Dwyane Wade’s transgender daughter, Zaya.

Badazz expressed his disgust with Wade’s support for his daughter via an Instagram video, captioning it “IM GO SAY IT SINCE THIS P*SSY ASS WORLD AINT GO SAY SHIT.”

In the video, Badazz shows himself to be frustrated with how Wade parents his child, saying she doesn’t know enough about herself to know what she wants.

“I gotta say something: Dwyane Wade, you’ve gone too fucking far, man,” he says. “That is a man. A 12-year-old. At 12, they don’t even know what their next meal is gonna be. They don’t have shit figured out yet.”

In the video, Badazz refers to the young girl as a man and goes on to show confusion about how a relationship between Zaya and a girl could work.

“He might meet a woman at 16 and fall in love with her, but his d*ck be gone. Don’t cut his d*ck off. If [he’s] gonna be gay, let him be gay. But don’t cut his dick off.”

It’s disrespectful to refer to trans people without using their proper pronouns. It’s also very possible for a woman to have a relationship with another woman, and it’s ultimately up to Zaya to decide when and how she transitions.

People on Twitter aren’t happy about Badazz’s transphobic remarks, needless to say. Twitter user @BrandonTalks was quick to mention that “Boosie is the only one bringing up surgery. Nobody from the family made any mention about it.”

Many brought up Badazz’s own parenting in response to his comments on Wade’s, which has been lauded.

This seems to be a case in which it’d be best for everybody involved to stay in their respective lanes. Only Zaya can choose what she will do with her body and how she’ll choose to represent herself.
