Danielle Bregoli, aka 17-year-old Bhad Bhabie, is under fire once again. This time, she’s accused of “blackfishing,” which is when white women try to make themselves appear Black or of different ethnicity.

Since her infamous debut on Dr. Phil as the “Cash me ousside” girl, Bregoli has done and said some wild things. She’s gotten into public brawls with influencer Woah Vicky, threatened Skai Jackson (which prompted Jackson to get a restraining order), and was accused of cultural appropriation after getting box-braids.

Her newest Instagram videos—one of which shows her with darker makeup and straight black hair—has led to accusations of blackfishing. On Twitter, commenters criticized her—and her fans—for the behavior.

“A vast majority of the people that are mad at bhad bhabie are the same ones that encouraged her behavior & found it funny when she was acting like a stereotypical [black woman] & gave her the platform she has now lol y’all are responsible for that mess,” one user wrote.

The rapper has previously defended herself against accusations of cultural appropriation.

In response to getting called out for her box braids, she said, “To all the black females that are saying my hair [ain’t] meant for box Braids guess the fuck what y’all hair [ain’t] meant to be straight.” She continued to say, “Y’all glue whole wigs on to your heads and sew brazilian/Indian/ Peruvian hair which [isn’t anything] like your natural hair texture at all.”

But she later backtracked. “First of all my comment was NOT directed towards ALL black women who wear straight hair only Towards the black women who were saying I was trying to b black bc I was wearing braids,” she said at the time in a post on her Instagram Story. “I didn’t call black women bald-headed either. That was in a whole different comment that was made about all the ppl who also had something to say about me.”

Bregoli said she was taking a social media break in January after being accused of racism, but she didn’t stay off of Instagram for long.
