Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston has been cast as Eric Draven in the upcoming remake of The Crow.

Horror fan site Dread Central reports the casting news was confirmed by The Crow creator James O’Barr this weekend. Speaking at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention, O’Barr said that the reboot is due to start filming in “a couple of months,” and is a relatively direct adaptation of the original comic.

The 1994 adaptation of The Crow achieved a cult following, but its straight-to-video sequels never gained much traction. The hope is that a modern reboot will succeed thanks to the current popularity of comic-book movies, although its production has already seen its fair share of problems.

Huston is the latest in a long string of actors linked to The Crow, taking over after Luke Evans exited the project in January. Before Evans, they had Bradley Cooper in the lead role, although Tom Hiddleston, Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were all rumored to be attached at one point or another. The reboot has seen a similar turnover of writers and directors since it was first announced in 2008, a well-known example of a film stuck in Hollywood-development Hell.

Still, if James O’Barr is to be believed, the remake of The Crow may finally happen this year. Although its IMDb page is still suspiciously blank for something that’s supposedly due to start filming in the next two months.
