Online gaming was billed as the missing link in connecting like-minded players with a love for video games. It has subsequently become the place where “your mom” jokes and usernames like “[XxX]w33dL0rd69″ reign supreme. Now, online gaming finally has the video tribute it deserves.

YouTube user “Slimecicle” unwittingly captured the essence of modern online gaming in a mock tutorial for Super Smash Bros. WiiU’s For Glory mode. The 1 minute-and-30-second video is a love letter to the gaming innovation that has summarily revealed the worst in all of us.

Unabashedly tongue-in-cheek, Slimecicle covers everything from the cheap strategies and “overpowered” characters we employ, to the excuses we proffer when a meaningless online contest doesn’t go our way. All the while, he hints at what online gaming really has become: a roulette of human ego.

So before you break another keyboard or controller because a stray bomb or skillshot ruined your day just remember: online gaming is important as you make it (and W33dL0rd is never an okay username).
