In an idea so obvious that we’re kind of surprised they didn’t think of it earlier, Marvel has just launched its first ever cosplay webseries.

Hosted by Marvel cosplay blogger Judy Stephens and YouTube vlogger Lorraine Cink, Marvel Method: Cosplay takes the form of a reality TV series about cosplay construction. Although not the kind of reality TV where people throw drinks in each other’s faces and scream a lot, the kind where people build something cool and we get to watch.

If you pay any attention to the fandoms for anime, superhero movies, sci-fi, or really anything, then you’ll already be aware that cosplay is a big deal, especially in the convention scene. Cink has dressed up for conventions before, but the goal of this webseries is to make her a “real” cosplay outfit for San Diego Comic-Con. The first episode features her choosing which Marvel character she wants to cosplay at the convention. Then she and her co-host consult with a Broadway costume designer to figure out how to make the thing.

A few commenters are already arguing that hiring someone else to build your costume is kind of missing the point of cosplay, but we all know that there’s not one single “right” way to be a fan. Both of the presenters point out that they don’t have much time to put that Comic-Con costume together, and after all, it’s not as if they’re trying to pass someone else’s work off as their own.

Marvel Method: Cosplay will update every Tuesday and Thursday, culminating in a big reveal of the final costume at Comic-Con.
