This is one front-seat view we’re perfectly OK with observing from a screen.

Explorers Sam Cossman and George Kourounis traveled to the Republic of Vanuatu, an archipelago full of active volcanoes in the South Pacific, and went straight to one of the many danger zones. With volcano guides Geoff Mackley and Brad Ambrose, they headed went to the island of Ambrym and straight to the Marum Crater, a highly dangerous 2,000-year-old volcano that is still active. Naturally, the explorers brought GoPro cameras.

They may not be as close to the volcano as the camera makes them appear, but they can’t fake how the lava flows or the worry that comes with watching someone stand that close to, and even play with, lava. As Cossman wrote on YouTube, “More people have visited the moon than the firey [sic] bottom of this spectacular and deadly place.”

The background music will either make you love or hate it, but it’s still pretty incredible.
