The expletive-riddled ‘Deadpool’ trailer was a Comic-Con highlight

A Salt-N-Pepa soundtrack and dialogue full of F-bombs? ALREADY EXCELLENT.

By all accounts, the Deadpool panel was one of the biggest hits at San Diego Comic-Con‘s Hall H this weekend.

Compared to the spoiler-phobic PR machines driving the panels for X-Men, Fantastic Fourand Batman v Superman, the Deadpool cast and director were refreshingly lively—not to mention foul-mouthed.

Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller have made a concerted effort to distance the Deadpool movie from Reynolds’ much-derided turn as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The solo movie promises to be far closer to the comics—beginning with an R rating—and allow its wisecracking assassin protagonist to break the fourth wall. And judging by the actors in this panel, it’s also going to be hilarious.

Deadpool‘s trailer got a massive response from the Hall H crowd, bringing a gleefully weird and comedic tone after the grit of Batman v Superman and Fantastic Four.

The footage leaked online almost immediately, and while it’s decidedly shaky quality, it’s still well worth a watch. Negasonic Teenage Warhead! A Salt-N-Pepa soundtrack! More R-rated words than Hall H has seen in years! Exactly what we wanted.
