Who hasn’t wondered what Star Wars would be like if it were set in historical Japan? Thanks to toy behemoth Bandai, now we know.
The Japanese toymaker has finally released its highly anticipated Samurai Darth Vader collectible—complete with a surprise set of Samurai storm troopers.
Thai fan S.I.C. Lover has been sharing the goods on his Facebook, and we can’t get enough. In a word, these are awesome.
The figure’s official title, as revealed in the Tokyo Toy show last June, is the “Star Wars Movie Realization Samurai Taisho Darth Vader.”

Darth’s reimagined warlord costume seems to be inspired by 17th-century Samurai armor:
The attention to detail and nuance in Darth’s uniform is impressive—and made all the better when you get a load of his bike as styled by S.I.C. Lover. We’re guessing that’s decidedly not part of authentic Edo-era gear:
