Those were the good old days. If only it were still that simple.
Author and recovering literary agent Nathan Bransford has laid out the modern process, from “Yeah, I bet I got a book in me” to getting an agent, shopping the manuscript, and landing the deal, to “Well, thank god that’s over.” But he’s done it in the ubercontemporary literary form of a GIF narrative. What John Donne could have done with a Tumblr account and a few good Hunger Games reaction GIFs … well, the mind, it boggleth.
This epic blog post has had 3,127 Facebook likes, 2,417 tweets, and 211 comments, which would seem to indicate enough of a readership to make it a bestseller in Canada.
Having some experience with the publishing industry ourselves, we’ve chosen this as the most representative of the 46 different GIFs. At least, this has been representative of our dealings with the industry.
Nicholas Sparks, you shut up. You just shut up.
