If you’re making a New Year’s resolution to read more, this is a good list to start with. From J.K. Rowling to Bill O’Reilly, you’ll surely find an author you’ll love – no matter what your taste is like.

1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne

Originally a West End stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released as a book this year, as if 2016 wasn’t already the year of extremely romanticized nostalgia. This story follows Harry Potter and his son Albus through the growing pains that come with Harry’s legacy.

2. When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

This autobiographical memoir takes you through Kalanithi’s life and his battle with stage IV metastatic lung cancer. The novel was published in January 2016, after his death.
