Donald Trump has retained his path to the White House by taking the Sunshine State.

Trump is projected Florida’s 29 electoral votes by a slim margin, keeping his chances at the presidency alive and lowering a black veil of panic on Democrat Hillary Clinton‘s campaign.

In both 2008 and 2012, President Barack Obama won the swing state by less than a one percent lead over Republican nominee Mitt Romney. On Monday, Florida’s early voting ended in record-breaking turnout, with slightly more registered Democrats voting than Republicans.

The historic Latino voter surge in Florida reached an all time high in this election, possibly due to Trump’s expressed immigration policy proposals, including mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. But it wasn’t enough to hand the state to Clinton.
