A student who appears to have been at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School when a gunman killed 17 people on Wednesday clapped back at Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren for a tweet she sent shortly after the tragedy.

Lahren, known for her provocative far-right views, lamented the number of people who began calling for gun control after the shooting and openly asked if “the left” could “let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?”

She also said the shooting “isn’t about a gun it’s about another lunatic.”

But for one person who appears to have been a student who hid while Nikolas Cruz, 19, allegedly shot 17 people in or around the school on Wednesday, Lahren’s tweet was missing the point.

“I was hiding in a closet for 2 hours,” the Twitter user only named “Carly” wrote. “It was about guns. You weren’t there, you don’t know how it felt. Guns give these disgusting people the ability to kill other human beings. This IS about guns and this is about all the people who had their life abruptly ended because of guns.”

Carly’s tweet had been retweeted more than 85,000 times and received more than 212,000 likes as of Thursday afternoon.

Lahren hasn’t tweeted since then, only retweeting someone furthering a pro-gun argument.

A report has linked Cruz, the shooter, with a white supremacist group.
