Pornhub’s new VPN will hide your filthy porn habits

Virtual private networks, or VPNs, are a secure method for keeping your browsing habits away from prying eyes, and, therefore, a must-have service for anyone who indulges in online pornNow Pornhub, the biggest online adult video website, is launching its own free VPN with unlimited bandwidth.

Called VPNhub, the VPN is designed to keep hackers from compromising your sensitive data and internet-service providers (ISPs) from throttling speeds. A VPN is a private network you connect to using a regular internet connection. When you’re connected to a VPN, all the data you send or receive is encrypted. VPNs also let you switch between servers in different areas so you can change your virtual location and circumvent region-locked content.

Video-streaming services fear last year’s vote to repeal net neutrality will result in ISPs throttling websites. A VPN will encrypt your data and keep it hidden from ISPs, making it impossible for them to know what to slow down. Users will be able to connect to around 1,000 servers in more than 15 countries, including Brazil, Canada, Japan, the U.S., and Singapore. As the Verge notes, it will be banned in countries the U.S. doesn’t do business with, including Myanmar, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.

Pornhub says VPNhub doesn’t log user data or your activity while it’s being used. If you were wondering, a VPN is more secure than your browser’s incognito mode. While incognito mode hides your browsing history, it doesn’t encrypt the requests you make to various services every time you press a link. This means ISPs and governments can still track your browsing habits.

This is the latest in a string of changes designed to make Pornhub and Pornhub Premium visitors feel more comfortable while clicking through the dark corners of the internet. Last year, Pornhub switched to HTTPS, a more secure website protocol that offers site-wide encryption. Pornhub is also experimenting with cryptocurrency through its sister site Brazzers for making anonymous transactions.

VPNhub is available on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. A $14.99 per month premium version is also available with no ads, faster speeds, and the ability to choose where you connect to. The free version will connect users to the closest server.
