Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar sat next to each other on their way to tomorrow’s debate

It’s reminiscent of another 2020 candidate photo.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a Democrat running for president, poked fun at United Airlines in a tweet where he shared a photo of himself sitting near fellow 2020 hopeful Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

In the photo, Buttigieg is sitting in the window seat a row behind Klobuchar, who was sitting in an aisle seat.

The seat pairing was similar to one that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) had earlier this year. In the photo, Sanders was sitting a row in front of Warren and another man was dubbed “Middle Seat Guy.” It quickly became a meme.

As for Tuesday’s photo of Buttigieg and Klobuchar—which was snapped just ahead of the third Democratic presidential debate—the Indiana mayor decided to share it himself.

“Very funny, @united,” Buttigieg tweeted, tagging the airline.

The 2020 hopeful eventually got a response from United.

“Hey Pete, we thought you two might want to talk debate strategies before the big night Thursday. ^RY,” United responded.

While there was no galvanizing meme like the previous candidates-on-a-plane photo, many people took the opportunity to crack jokes.
