Is this the terrifying future of Facebook’s Oculus Rift?

Facebook has purchased virtual reality company Oculus VR for $2 billion, as announced yesterday by both companies. Oculus fanboys freaked out about what they considered to be the demise of their favorite virtual gaming start-up, but, of course, others were more concerned about what Facebook might do with the technology.

This satirical video by tech commentator Tom Scott  just about sums up the worries. Here’s your world turned into a virtual shopping mall, courtesy of Facebook.
