A massive data breach exposed the personal information of cam girls and clients of popular European sites, TechCrunch reports.

The Spain-based company VTS Media suffered a data breach on several of its sites, leaving its database unprotected and exposing personal information for both clients and sex workers. TechCrunch reported that “millions” of sex workers and users had been affected. A spokesperson for VTS Media told the Daily Dot that information for 330,000 users had been breached.

“As far as we are aware, no one aside from those who discovered the breach had access to the data nor that those technical logs have been downloaded or published on the internet,” the spokesperson said.

But according to TechCrunch, the back-end of the site was without a password for weeks and left the database containing user logs fully exposed. The logs include personal information like usernames, passwords, IP addresses, private messages, and data on which videos users watched.

The sites affected include amateur.tv, webcampornoxxx.net, and placercams.com. TechCrunch reports that amateur.tv is one of the most popular camgirl sites in Spain and while a majority of the clients are based in Europe, there was evidence of users everywhere, including in the U.S.

Researchers at Condition:Black, a cybersecurity firm, were the first to discover the breach.

“This was a serious failure from a technical and compliance perspective,” John Wethington, founder of Condition:Black, told TechCrunch. “After reviewing the sites’ data privacy policy and terms and conditions, it’s clear that users likely had no idea that their activities being monitored to this level of detail.”
