Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday told President Donald Trump’s administration to ban AR-15-type weapons in the wake of their decision to begin working on banning non-tobacco flavored e-cigarettes.

On Wednesday, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar said the administration was working on a plan to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarettes, including mint and menthol. Trump called vaping a “new problem” when discussing the administration’s plan.

Sanders, who is one of many Democrats hoping to challenge Trump for the presidency in the 2020 election, used the planned ban to criticize the administration for not acting on gun reform in the wake of several deadly mass shootings.

“Now do AR-15s,” Sanders wrote, linking to a news report about the vaping ban.

Last year Sanders—in the days following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 people dead—criticized the use of AR-15-type rifles, saying they were “not for hunting” but rather for “killing human beings.”

More recently, Sanders tweeted that the United States should “ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons.”
