EatSleepDraw, Tumblr’s largest digital art gallery, publishes one piece of original art every hour.

With more than 1,000 pieces submitted every week for consideration though, the chances of your art showing up on the site is about 17 percent.

The Daily Dot asked EatSleepDraw cofounder Lee Rubenstein, what are some ways artists can get their work featured on the site? These are some of the tips he provided.

1) Be original

“Don’t send us copies,” Rubenstein said. “We will delete them.”

2) Take high-quality pictures or scans of your work.

This one is self-explanatory. There’s no easier way to lessen a great piece of art than with a poor scan or a bad cropping job.

3) Don’t draw shoes, trees, eyeballs, or faeries.

“It’s very rare that you’ll see a shoes, trees, eyeballs or faeries on our website,” Rubenstein added.

“Trees are very hard to draw but everyone draws them. And shoes are fine to practice, but don’t submit them to EatSleepDraw.”

4) Provide contact information

Always be sure to send along a link to your blog, website, blog, portfolio. “Because you never know who will want to contact you to design something,” Rubenstein said.
