If Homeland and 24 taught us anything, it’s that international intrigue makes for thrilling television. Deep State is a new entry in the genre, this time from a British perspective.

Mark Strong stars as former MI6 agent Max Easton who comes out of retirement to tackle new threats. Season 2 brings Walton Goggins, who plays Easton’s American counterpart Nathan Miller, a former CIA agent keeping close tabs on a political crisis in Mali. After four US Special Forces translators are killed in an ambush, Miller must pick up the pieces of a complicated procurement deal, while also struggling to keep his family from tearing apart.
