Dealing with roommates is tumultuous—especially when you’ve lived with each other for hundreds of years as blood-sucking vampires. Sure, haunting the living is easy, but even decades later, some stubborn jerks still can’t grasp the concept of a chore wheel.

The 2014 mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, created by and starring Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Concords) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), created a cult hit with that concept. Now, four new vampires star in the identically named television series, set in Staten Island but existing in the same universe as the film.

Unfortunately, Clement and Waititi will not be reprising their respective roles as Vladislav and Viago in season 1. But Clement and Waititi are executive producers on the TV series, and Waititi is credited as a director and Clement as a writer on some episodes. So, you can rest assured the spinoff remains in safe hands.

“The series has the potential to become the best new comedy series on TV,” Tiffany Kelly wrote in the Daily Dot’s review. “It already has a built-in fanbase, an interesting backstory, and a relatable premise about the difficulties of living with other people. Vampires are back, and this time they don’t sparkle—unless they choose to wear glitter.”

Here’s everything you need to know to watch What We Do in the Shadows online for free.

Guillermo serves as Nador’s familiar, who desperately wants to be a vampire like his master. Mark Proksch is an odd bug, an “energy vampire” who’s quite comfortable in daylight.
