Bernie Sanders’ messed-up map of the U.S. is his first campaign flub

People have issues with the way some of the states look.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) exploded back onto the scene after announcing that he would seek the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination—but an announcement that people from all 50 states have donated to his new campaign has a few people scratching their heads.

The announcement from Sanders, which was posted late Tuesday, shows a GIF of the United States with the states cobbled together as odd-looking shapes.

“Powerful special interests may have the money, but we have the people. Supporters from all 50 states have donated to our unprecedented grassroots campaign. Say you’re in:,” Sanders wrote on Twitter, with a link to donate.

Sanders raised an impressive $6 million in his first day, but all anyone could talk about was how half of Nevada overlapped California, and how Oregon jutted out into the ocean.

While many people on Twitter retweeted the link enthusiastically supporting Sanders—who is presumably one of the front runners in the race to square off against President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election—there were some who couldn’t get over how odd looking the map of the United States was.

It’s just a PR-stunt map, but there is no doubt it does look a bit off.
