Cameron Dallas is breaking his silence after his arrest for allegedly assaulting a man in an Aspen, Colorado hotel over the weekend.

Police were called to Hyatt Residences Grand Aspen, where Dallas was staying, on Saturday morning following the incident, BuzzFeed first reported. There they found a man bleeding from injuries to his face; Dallas had apparently punched him in the face and broken his nose, according to the Aspen TimesAn ambulance was also called to the hotel.

“On further investigation officers arrested Cameron Dallas,” Bill Linn, Assistant Chief for the Aspen Police said according to BuzzFeed.

Dallas, 24, faces charges of second-degree assault and was released on a $5,000 bond.

Sharing his mugshot, Dallas took to Instagram to explain what happened.

Kind of.

“Unfortunately sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about,” he wrote. “Have a safe and happy new year, 2019 is going to be an amazing one.”

This isn’t the first time Dallas has found himself in trouble.

In 2015, he was arrested and held on $20,000 bail for felony vandalism. At the time he was filming a YouTube video alongside JcCaylen and Kian Lawley. They were splattering themselves and Dallas’ Hollywood apartment with paint and apparently threw a can of paint out the window.

While this landed him behind bars, stunts like this helped launch Dallas’ career which started on Vine and landed him millions of followers on YouTube.

Dallas has gone on to star in films including Expelled and The Outfield. He even stars in his own Netflix docu-series, Chasing Cameron. The Daily Dot reached out to Netflix for comment but did not hear back by press time.

Dallas’ next court appearance is slated for January 22.
