With over 72 hours of footage uploaded every minute, it’s physically impossible to keep track of the content on YouTube. But in YouTube Guide, the Daily Dot will curate its five favorite finds for each workday.
1) Screen Junkies, “Honest Trailers: The Hunger Games”
Haven’t seen The Hunger Games yet and want to know if it’s going to be worth your time? Tune into Honest Trailers’ take on the preview. Brett Weiner, Andy Signore, and Dan Perrault serve it to you straight: “Prepare for the poorly directed movie adaptation of the young adult phenomenon that isn’t about gay vampires.” I’m in.
2) Anand Jain, “Ghostbusters Theme on eight floppy drives”
In the words of YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca, “this is officially the dorkiest thing on the Internet today.” YouTuber Anand Jain hooked eight floppy disk drives together and rigged them such that they play the theme song to Ghostbusters for four minutes straight.
Jain’s been making videos like this since December: he currently has 51 different floppy disk remakes, including the theme songs to Donkey Kong Country 2, Duke Nukem, Avicii’s “Levels,” and the U.S.S.R’s national anthem.
3) Very Bad Dates, “The Hoarder”
For the past year, David Graham has run his own Web series, “Very Bad Dates,” in which the longtime Keenan Cahill manager rummages through the trash heap of the worst possible dinner dates and bizarre nights out. In this episode, Graham sits down with a hoarder, one who admittedly doesn’t get to go on too many dates these days.
4) sWooZie, “Confessions of a Disney Employee pt. 2”
Adande Swoozie’s first “Confessions of a Disney Employee” hit it rich to the tune of more than 2.3 million views on YouTube. In the second installment, released today, the popular animated video blogger looks into the brainwashing tactics Mickey Mouse and his crew employ. Sounds like a fun place!
5) Art with Salt, “Jurassic Park”
Bashir Sultani’s YouTube channel boasts more than 100 artistic works that he completes using nothing but a Q-tip, piece of sharp paper, and a massive pile of salt. In his latest episode, Sultani shakes out the Tyrannosaurus rex that tormented Alan Grant and his crew after the dinosaurs broke loose on Jurassic Park.
