Naughty Nineties 1
Maria Popova brings the erotic Victorian pop-up book The Naughty Nineties to life with these GIFs.

Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

Have you ever wondered what kind of public display of affection it would take to actually scare the horses? Well, now you can satisfy your curiosity, and possibly much more, with this delightfully decadent series of GIFs from the erotic Victorian pop-up book The Naughty Nineties.

Victoriophile and self-described “interestingness hunter-gatherer” Maria Popova got the book from her public library, scanned five of the pages (be assured, gentle readers, that no copyrights were violated in the animation of these GIFs) animated the result, and created these no-longer-quite-so-shocking images. Then she posted one to the Explore Tumblr, where it has collected 367 notes.

Some are more risque than others, but all of them are just the right balance of sexy and saucy to qualify as truly naughty. Enjoy (just don’t get caught)!
