This may stop you from killing spiders. Or not.

After covering the world of YouTube for two years at the Daily Dot, I have finally found my favorite video, and it’s Spencer Olson’s “The Spider.”

It’s from last year—and not many people have seen it. But don’t let that stop you.

The clip starts out as a seemingly political gag and turns on its head with the death of a spider, and a deep dive into the miniature world of said spider. It’s nothing short of genius.

To be fair, everything else creator Spencer Olson does is great, from a weed fantasy called The Nugman to his spot-on Olsen Twins musical parody with character actor, Tiny Lister. In a world where digital media attracts the attention of big business and increasing budgets, it’s great to see homegrown storytelling, art, and talent still able to shine without a YouTube Red contract.
