We’re still way too many weeks until the general election. No one feels the existential pain of this more than journalists and late night hosts. Let the best of both worlds talk shop and you’ve got Samantha Bee‘s hilarious appearance on Late Night with Stephen Colbert.
The Daily Show alums reminisced about the good old days of saying “go get those bastards” before a field shoot, then discussed the shitshow that is this country’s presidential election. Naturally, Colbert asked whether the Full Frontal host has enjoyed the bevy of comedic riches presented to them. Turns out she’s pretty over it.
“It certainly is a buffet of wonderful things to draw upon to make a comedy show,” Bee admits, then groans in anguish. “I want it to be over so badly. I want to live my life. I want America to be happy again.”
The country could at least get a little chuckle over Bee’s VP debate idea of a banjo duel. “I feel like that’s a debate that I could moderate,” she says. Same though.
