Picard would never have put the captain's log on Tumblr.

Here at the Daily Dot, we have an unofficial tradition of sharing GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you into the circle. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

It’s always best to be the unquestioned alpha—Number One, right? Not only do you not have to try so hard, but nobody makes Forever Alone jibes as you walk onto the bridge.

So give it up this morning for poor, beleaguered Commander William Thomas Riker of the starship Enterprise. Not only is he eternally a frustrated bridesmaid to Picard’s bride, but according to today’s Morning GIF, he’s also a fragile, self-doubting Tumblr user (but I repeat myself). Checking his dashboard, his eyes light up at the sight of a private message. What could it be? Something racy from Troi? “You have the best hair,” from Anon? A new submission for his “best trombone solos of the 23rd century” contest?

We won't spoil the surprise.

In the ultimate humiliation, he’s been reblogged with extreme lols by Wil Wheaton, who famously played the galaxy’s twerpiest ensign. Oh, the infamy! Lift up that sad trombone and play "Taps," Commander, because there’s nowhere to go from here but a private LiveJournal.

No one wears a singing and dancing Christmas hat like Sir Patrick Stewart
When our beloved Sir Patrick Stewart married longtime girlfriend Sunny Ozell back in Sept. 2013, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. On Christmas Eve, Ozell subjected the X-Men and Star Trek actor to something much worse than a costly divorce or attention-starved children: The silliest holiday hat you have ever seen.
