Comic Con is the go-to place of the summer for an exclusive sneak peek of your favorite TV show or movie. Now you can even see a new Web series before anyone else.
Famed producer, director, and writer Bryan Singer is screening H+ The Digital Series at Comic Con on July 13, the Hollywood Reporter reported. A question-and-answer session will follow the screening.
H+ is set in a fictional future when new technology allows people to inject a chip into their nervous system that allows them to access the Internet 24 hours a day through thought. The series follows a fight for survival when a virus kills one-third of the earth’s population.
The official YouTube channel released a nearly three-minute trailer, featured below, on July 1. The video count is currently locked at 305 views, which suggests the video is a lot of traffic.
The show is a collaboration between Singer, best known for directing films like X-Men and Superman Returns, Dolphin Entertainment, and Warner Premiere Digital.
“Our first venture into the digital space gives us the freedom to engage fans with new content that is immersive, interactive and is tailored to be enjoyed online,” Singer said in a statement. “‘H+ The Digital Series’ on YouTube provides us with a strong two-way dialogue with our fans, creating a deeper and ongoing connection.”
Singer isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight to be turning to YouTube.
As part of YouTube’s push towards premium channels, Ashton Kutcher’s production company, Katalyst, is behind Thrash Lab, which hosts three YouTube series. Likewise, Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels launched a YouTube comedy channel, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation creator Anthony Zuiker partnered with Tony Valenzuela of BlackBoxTV for a short film series.
H+ The Digital Series will premiere on YouTube on Aug. 8.
