Secondhand smoke is no joke, especially in China, which has the 10th highest smoking rate of any country in the world (for reference, the United States is 63rd).  What’s a nonsmoker to do?

If you’re this Chinese college student, living in a dorm with smoking roommates, the solution is a bit complicated.

It might look ridiculous, but you have to respect the engineering. Using little more than garbage bags, cardboard, a fan, and an abject fear of lung cancer, the young man managed to construct a device that pulls “fresh” air in from his dorm hallway… (where people are no doubt standing and smoking)

…Into what we’re going to call his “headbox”, which we assume has eyeholes cut into it.

He even provides a helpful diagram in case you, too, have roommates who refuse to smoke outside.

Nice job, man. If this kid doesn’t get some sort of class credit for this, there truly is no justice in the world.
