Yes, this is real.

Move over "hoverboards," or whatever all the teens are riding around nowadays. Here's the real deal.

Franky Zapata already caught our eye back in 2014 with his amazing hoverboard skills, twirling up into the air with the help of this aquatic machinery. The inventor is back, this time to shatter the Guinness World Record for farthest hoverboard flight.

Watch him launch into the sky and travel 2,252 meters at an event in Sausset-les-Pins, France, like it's no big deal.

So, Franky, when's our turn to try these out?
Strap your beach chair to hoverboards and chase the endless summer
Oh, what a world we live in. Hoverboards are still popular, and people are trying to customize them. Sometimes the results are actually kind of cool, like with this real life Aladdin riding a faux magic carpet through the streets of Tel Aviv. But most of the time, these glorified spontaneous-combustion devices turn into something even worse when meddled with by riders.
