Who runs the ‘City of Denver’ Instagram? The city of Denver would like to know

The city of Denver seems cool with its impostor.

If you follow the City of Denver on Instagram—and 150,000 of you do—you probably love the photos of cute dogs buried in colorful leaf piles, beautiful sunsets over shimmering lakes, and magical views of the city’s skyline.

But you probably don’t know who runs the Instagram account. And maybe nobody does. Certainly not the city of Denver.

As 9News reports, the city of Denver account is not, um, actually run by the city of Denver. Jenny Schiavone, who works in the city’s marketing department, said the city has been trying to figure out the owner of the account but has not come to any conclusions on the squatter’s identity. So far, however, Denver doesn’t seem to mind.

“We haven’t asked them to give it up since they had it first and they really do have fabulous content, but we’ve asked them not to use our website and logo,” Schiavone told 9News.

She’s right. The account puts up pretty work.

Schiavone said the city is throwing around names if it starts an official Denver Instagram account, and one suggestion is @realcityofdenver.

Perhaps the name @heyseriouslyguysthisistheofficialdenveraccountforreal would be even better.
