Your carpal-tunnel-burdened thumbs may now rest easy, thanks to Snapchat’s newest update.

In a blog post, Snapchat announced that beginning today, rather than having to keep your finger on your phone screen for a prolonged time to view a snap or a story on the app, you may now simply “tap to view.” This update is indeed a welcome one, especially for people who have snap-happy friends that regularly share hundred-second stories.

Users who are in the company of new acquaintances can also add new contacts through the “Add Nearby” feature. For the function to work, everyone needs to launch Add Nearby to populate a list of nearby friends. Tap a user to add him or her to your friends list.

Other updates include two-factor authentication for improved security and the ability to add a selfie to your Snapcode so you’re easily recognized by people who add you on Snapchat. Not mentioned in the blog update is a spruced up view of Stories:

As of this writing, the update is now available for iOS devices, with the Android version soon to follow.
