Motorola just teased a Razr comeback

It's like 2006 all over again.

It’s iconic. It’s durable. It’s Motorola’s insanely popular feature phone, the Razr, and it might be making a comeback.

In a new video that hits us right in the nostalgic feels, Motorola is bringing us back to high school days when we texted our BFFs under desks in math class and took low-res photos of the football team on homecoming game days.

With the 2006 Boys Like Girls jam “The Great Escape” playing over a spot-on recreation of your high school hallway, Motorola is teasing the flip phone and our love for it. The brief video ends with “TTYL,” and June 9, the date of the Lenovo Tech World event.

Personally, I was entirely too excited watching this video and flashing back to my formative years, texting emoticons and trying to decipher whether or not a text with no vowels was flirting or not, sending T9 messages to meet up at the mall and movie theater, and (OMG) Myspace. My pink Razr got me through some life-changing experiences before I upgraded to something a bit smarter.

The growing trend of pining for the days when we weren’t inundated with tweets and Instagrams and emails on mobile may no longer just live in thinkpieces reminiscing about the week you went back to the dark ages with a flip phone, or trend stories about people who still rely on the seemingly ancient devices.

Motorola knows you miss it. And soon we might be able to get our hands on one through means beyond an eBay auction or the bottom drawer of the armoire that you never remember to open. Talk about a #TBT.
