It’s inching toward the end of the semester for most students, and Apple is hoping to provide the soundtrack to long finals study sessions. The Cupertino company is now offering students 50 percent off the monthly price for Apple Music.

Typically, Apple Music is priced at $9.99 per month for an individual or $14.99 per month for a family plan that includes up to six people. Apple will be slicing that individual price point in half for anyone enrolled in school with it’s new $4.99 student tier membership, which can be selected during signup.

Students attending eligible colleges and universities will be able to make use of the discounted price for up to four years, because graduate students should really be focusing on their work anyway. Users who want to take advantage of the deal can switch their current subscription to the student membership or, if they’re new to the platform, can enjoy the free three month trial before snagging the savings on the monthly fee.

Apple is working with UNiDAYS, a service that delivers discounts and savings to students, to help verify that student users are truly enrolled in classes.

Spotify, Apple’s top competition in the streaming space, runs a similar promotion for students, allowing them to sign up for the service for $4.99 per month. Spotify offers the price for a year and requires users verify their status to continue receiving the discount beyond that.

Of course, the math majors will realize that while $4.99 is much cheaper than $9.99, it costs even less to gather up some friends and split the $14.99 monthly fee for the Apple Music family plan; you just need three people to match the student pricing, and six brings the price down to about $2.50 per month.
