Multitasking on an iOS device has been a pain in the ass since time immemorial, but that’s all about to change with iOS 9. At its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) on Monday, Apple previewed several handy new multitasking tricks that iPads will support when the next version of Apple’s mobile software rolls out later this year. Below, you can see the new Slide Over feature in iOS 9.

Apple’s forthcoming software update will also add picture-in-picture support, a feature more often associated with televisions than mobile devices.

The new features will be available on the two most recent generations of the iPad Air and the iPad Mini, but the iPad Air 2 will be the only device capable of Split View, shown below, which allows you to fully run and interact with two apps at once.

Unfortunately, given their smaller screens, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus appear to be left out in the cold for now.
