January’s pivotal Democratic debate to stream on YouTube

NBC News announced this week that, in addition to hosting the final Democratic debate before primary season in January, it’s partnered with YouTube to host a livestream.

The debate will air simultaneously on YouTube and traditional TV, starting at 9pm ET on Jan. 17, and will feature Google Trends search data and questions from the YouTube community. The event itself will be filmed in Charleston, South Carolina, with Nightly News anchor Lester Holt as moderator. 

Major news networks pairing with social media giants to host election events is an increasing industry standard. The last Democratic debate, which was in November, aired on CBS and included a partnership with Twitter
