Sarah Palin and Donald Trump are Republican headliners.

Two of the biggest names in American politics met on Friday for a long-awaited interview that struck back against what both perceive to be unfair treatment of Trump by the mainstream media, or, as Palin described them, “idiots in the press” and “radical activists.”

On the contrary, many are calling this interview by Palin fawning, easy, and gushing for Trump, who has in the past said he would love to appoint Palin to a cabinet position.

“Everything about Donald Trump’s campaign, it’s avant-garde,” Palin said, “and he is crushing it in the polls. What America knows, you viewers, is he’s talking to you.”

Palin made clear her support of Trump from the beginning as they both accused the White House of lying on the economy.

Trump made a case for high taxes on “hedge fund guys” and other extraordinarily wealthy individuals like himself because the status quo “is unfair to the middle class.” Palin said she “wouldn’t want the IRS taking more” of her money but asserted that Trump’s message is resonating powerfully with that middle class.

From there, Trump and Palin began exchanging praise over the connections one another have with American troops and then transitioned into discussing the “incompetent leadership” behind the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Over the last month, Trump has catapulted to a 13-point lead in the polls over his 2016 Republican competition.

The next Republican debate takes place on Sept. 16 in Simi Valley, California, at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
